About the activity:
Caves are complex both in terms of navigation and the risks involved, so learning to be an independent caver is an intricate journey in itself!
This two-day caving skills development course will give you a good understanding of the foundation skills, inherent risks and equipment required to get involved in caving. Leave with a greater degree of safety and knowledge, as well as inspiration for your caving journeys ahead.

All you will need to bring:
- Comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting wet and muddy such as a dark-coloured T-shirt and leggings/long trousers, and a lightweight jumper if you feel the cold (please note – the mud will stain light coloured clothing!)
- Wellington boots if you have any (otherwise these can be provided on request)
- It is recommended to bring a change of clothes to change into afterwards
- Drinks
- Packed lunches
- Personal first aid kit
- Your parent or guardian to accompany you if you are a child
- Your sense of adventure!
Previous experience:
You will have ideally been caving regularly in the last year – for example at least five times in Pridhamsleigh Cavern and twice in Bakers Pit (we are happy to discuss your other caving experience). A good level of mobility is important, as caving is likely to involve crouching, crawling and easy scrambling on uneven and slippery ground.
Other caving adventures offered by Rock and Moor:
