SCOTLAND ACTIVITY POSSIBILITIES:
The Highlands in Scotland and western islands are packed with exceptional hiking, scrambling and rock climbing activities.
One of the most dramatic and challenging of the lot – the Skye Cuillin Ridge – can often be completed in two days if the weather and all else is favourable, but more popular and practical for most is to choose a section for a day’s scrambling.
The Ring of Steall in Mamores, is another classic scramble taking you along narrow rocky aretes, traversing four Munros (An Gearanach, Stob Choire a Chàirn, Am Bodach and then the Devils Ridge before reaching Sgùrr a’Mhaim.
The Rum Cuillin Traverse scramble on the beautiful and mountainous Isle of Rum in West Scotland is a fantastic challenge, with tricky navigation in a rewarding multi-peaked landscape.
The Aonach Eagach Ridge links two munros in Glencoe, beginning at ‘The Devil’s Staircase’, the name of which gives you an idea of the adventures ahead of you, but all very worth it with exceptional views throughout (weather willing!), and a conveniently placed Inn at the base!

Physicality:
These hikes often take place over rough, steep terrain, which can be slippery, particularly when wet. Mountain weather can be very changeable, and it can be cold at altitude and in the wind. Days out in the mountains can be quite strenuous and challenging, so a good level of physical fitness will aid your enjoyment. The length will depend on the exact route taken, but you should be prepared for a long day out, with 10 miles being a reasonably comfortable distance for you. We keep the pace at a level to suit you, so that you can enjoy the sights along the way, whilst bearing in mind the ground that needs to be covered (short cuts/backtracking will take place if necessary. Your safety is our number one consideration).
Previous experience:
Previous hikes on hilly and uneven ground, taking in several miles is recommended, as are well worn-in walking boots. We will discuss your interests, requirements and fitness level in order to select a suitable route.
