If you have walking poles, it can be a good idea to bring them. Gaiters also help to keep your feet dry and protect your lower legs/trousers from spiky plants. A flask with hot drink can be worth its weight in gold!
Physicality:
The level of walk you wish to take will be discussed with you and tailored to your requirements as far as possible. Although there are easier possibilities, many of Dartmoor’s best walking takes place over rough, hilly and often boggy terrain, sometimes off the beaten track, and may have small rivers to cross, over slippery surfaces. The length in distance will depend on the exact route taken, and we will keep the pace at a level to suit you, so that you can enjoy the sights along the way, whilst bearing in mind the ground that needs to be covered (short cuts may be possible if needs be).
Previous experience:
Previous walks on hilly and uneven ground, taking in several miles would be helpful (although not necessary), as would well worn-in walking boots.
