About the Belay Workshop course:
This belay workshop, which can take place indoors or outdoors, will be tailored to your needs and skill level.
Perhaps you are new to rock climbing and would like to learn how to belay safely for the first time, and ensure you can do so safely at indoor climbing walls or outdoors at a crag.
Maybe you would like to climb with your family and would like to learn about the use of the various brake assisted belay devices, and the added safety these offer for belaying people with significant weight differences, such as a Petzl Gri-Gri or double rope Edelrid Giga Jul or the use of the Edelrid Ohm Assisted Braking Resistor.
Equally, depending on your previous experience, this workshop could be a wet weather alternative to practice belay setups and take a look at direct and semi-direct belaying techniques in the comfort of a warm climbing wall with tea and cake available!
There may be a discount for booking two Climbing Workshops as a full 1 day course combination.
Objectives:
Depending on your experience and wishes:
- Bottom roping whilst learning the use of different belay devices
- Belaying with weight difference considerations
- Setting up simple belays and a look at belaying a second in a top roping situation
- Direct and semi-direct belaying
Included:
- Highly qualified and experienced rock climbing instructor
- Use of all essential rock climbing equipment such as climbing harness, helmet, belay device, ropes
