About the course:
This is a stand-alone course or bolt on module to the Hill Skills Development course which can be combined as a one week course. We will look at everything from planning your route and overnight camps to food and water requirements as well as appropriate camping equipment and permitted camping areas on Dartmoor.

Included:
- Highly experienced and qualified instructor
All you will need to bring and be able to carry:
- Lightweight tent
- Essential navigation equipment (i.e. 1:25000 map of the area and compass – ask us if unsure!)
- Clothing which can be worn in layers, including a warm jumper in all seasons
- Waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers
- Waterproof walking boots
- Warm hat and gloves in Autumn/Winter/Spring
- Sunhat/cap in Summer
- Suncream
- Sunglasses
- Headtorch and spare batteries
- Water bottle (at least 2 litres)
- Packed lunch, dinner, breakfast and snacks
- Personal first aid kit
- Your sense of humour
We can give further guidance on the above prior to your course.
A flask with hot drink can be worth its weight in gold!
Accommodation and transfers to/from the starting points are not included.
Physicality:
As you will be carrying all of your own equipment for two days with a remote wild camp you will need a reasonable level of fitness and ability to cope with basic and sometimes challenging conditions.
Previous experience:
For those with a good level of hill walking experience and the ability to navigate well off the beaten track.
